Join us once a month to visit and support local restaurants in the community. We will enjoy great conversation, build friendships, and practice various life skills. Participants will be responsible for their own meals, so be sure to bring money as we will practice money management and other important monetary life skills. Staff will be available for assistance. Restaurant will be decided closer to date of program. Pick-up and Drop-off will be at Crow Recreation Center.

Spend the afternoon with your friends going out to eat and seeing a movie. Movie will be decided closer to the date of the showing. Lunch & movie ticket are included but bring extra money for snacks at the movies. Please note, program times may vary slightly due to available show times and transportation is not provided. Drop off and pick up will be at various theater locations in Charlottesville.

Join your Adaptive Recreation friends for an afternoon of fun together. We will meet at Key Recreation Center, have lunch together on the downtown mall, then enjoy a live performance of "The Wizard of Oz." Pick-up will be out front of the Live Arts Theater. Lunch & Show ticket are included in Registration. Bring money for snacks/drinks at theater. Pick up and drop off will be at Crow Recreation Center.

Join your Adaptive Recreation friends for a morning of music & culture from around the world. We will be using various rhythm instruments, dancing, and expressive arts throughout this program. Class will be held at Washington Park. Bring a packed lunch or snack with you. After music class, we will all enjoy lunch together.

Come out and celebrate the upcoming Holiday season with your Adaptive Recreation friends. We will be creating various Holiday crafts to use as gifts for our friends and loved ones. Each participant will be able to make a few items to take home with them and use as Holiday gifts. Drop-off and Pick-up will be at Washington Park.

Join us to work up a sweat while dancing with your friends. This class will be taught by a UVA Student, but Adaptive Staff will be present for support. Learn new dance moves, show off your favorite moves, and share laughs with friends as we use dance as a means of exercise and keep us moving.

Join us for The GardenFest of Lights at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens and dinner. A one-of-a-kind walking experience through the gardens at Lewis Ginter. The Gardens will be decorated full of Holiday Lights, botanical decorations, and model trains. We will eat inside the Gardens at the local Diner. Please note, the trail is outside, and participants should be prepared to walk for up to 1.5 hours and you will need to dress for the weather.

Water aerobics is back! Join us for a workout in the pool and lots of fun. but you will have to pay the daily admission rate at the front desk of Smith Aquatic & Fitness Center each time you attend ($1.00 for City residents, $2.00 for non City residents). No Class Wednesday, Nov 27th.
Participants needing assistance changing in the locker rooms or getting in and out of the pool must come with support, as staff will not be available to assist.

Come learn about Nutrition, cooking safety, expand your taste palate, try new foods, and learn how to cook a balanced and healthy meal. This class will be taught by UVA Medical Students with support of Adaptive Recreation Staff. Come out and enjoy a group dinner, socialize, and learn something new.

Join Adaptive Recreation's Youth/Teen event. Once a month we will meet up and enjoy a morning of fun together.

Get ready to cheer on the Cavaliers as they take on Georgia Tech in a Thursday evening Women's Basketball Game showdown. Let's be loud and supportive fans of our local UVA Women's Basketball team. Wear your orange and blue or other cavalier gear. Dinner is not included. Please eat before you come or bring money for concessions. Drop-off and Pick-up will be at Crow Recreation Center.

Come learn sign language with Adaptive Recreation. Refresh and practice your skills or learn a new skill. This is a beginner level class that will develop and expand your knowledge/skills of sign language as you progress throughout the class.

Grab your sweats, gym shoes, a water bottle, and your energetic self. We will cover cardio, strength, balance, and flexibility. Come ready to work hard and break out a sweat. Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move around freely in, tennis shoes, and your water bottle.

Level 1

Lace up those hiking boots and get ready to hit the trail! We will head to Shenandoah National Park and hike The Frazier Discovery Trail. This is a 1.3 mile hike with steep, uphill and downhill, and uneven terrain. The hike will take us about 3 hours. Challenge yourself, explore nature, and reward yourself with beautiful overlooks of the mountains. Bring a picnic lunch! This is a level 1 only trip. If you would like to get outside but looking for something less challenging, please sign up for our Blue Ridge Tunnel hike on April 26th.

Who's ready for a walk in the woods? Or...tunnel that is?! Join us for a walk through the Blue Rudge Tunnel in Nelson County. We will walk about 2.5 miles on a relatively flat and even surface made of crushed stone. The tunnel can be dark, so bring a flashlight and get ready for a unique adventure! Bring a picnic lunch.

Join us the last Wednesday of the month at Northside Library as we read a story together and complete an activity. This program is free, but registration is required, so we can make sure to have an accurate number of materials available.
