Splish Splash! Let’s have an aquatic blast! This class introduces parents to water-safety topics while teaching them how to safely support and hold their children as they learn basic swimming skills. The ultimate goal is to get your tiny tots ready to swim on their own. Parental participation required.

A step above Starfish Level 1, this second-tier class expands upon your child’s swimming skills and delves a little deeper into water safety. Topics are introduced and directed to parents so they can be hands-on and involved during instruction. Recommended for preschool-aged students. Parental participation required.

The class includes all Starfish ages from 6 months to 3 years. Parental participation required.

Students can leave parents willingly and follow direction in a group setting. This is the first class without a parent; no prerequisites required. The goal is to help children feel comfortable and enjoy the water safely. This class introduces elementary aquatic skills and helps students develops good attitudes and safe practices around the water.

Sting Ray Level 1 certificate preferred or must be able to demonstrate Sting Ray Level 1 exit skills. Goal is to build on Level 1 skills and enjoy success with fundamental skills. Learn to float on back unsupported,recover to a vertical position, explore simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions on front and back, build foundation for future strokes. Self-help and basic rescue skills.

Sting Ray Level 2 certificate preferred or can demonstrate Sting Ray Level 2 exit skills. Goal is to build on Level 2 skills by providing additional guided practice. Learn to effectively coordinate combined simultaneous arm and leg actions, alternating arm and leg actions and safety skills.

No prerequisites required. Learn basic personal water safety information and skills, help participants feel comfortable in the water. Learn elementary aquatic skills and develop good attitudes about swimming, good swimming habits and safe water practices.

Level 1 certificate preferred or ability to perform Level 1 exit skills. Goal is to achieve success with fundamental skills. Learn to float without support and recover to vertical position; develop simultaneous and alternating arm and leg action on front and back; and learn safety skills.

Level 2 certificate preferred or able to perform Level 2 exit skills. Build
on learned skills through guided practice. Learn survival float; swim
front crawl and elementary backstroke for 15 yards. Introduction to
scissors kick, dolphin kick and fundamentals of treading water. Learn
rules for headfirst entries and begin headfirst entries from the side of
the pool. Safety skills.

Level 3 certificate preferred or able to perform Level 3 exit skills. Develop confidence in existing strokes, increase endurance and distances by swimming familiar strokes. Add arm action to the scissors kick for sidestroke. Learn backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly with proficiency. Basic skills for turns at the wall. Safety skills.

The Mighty Mite program is a preparatory program for future participation on the City Swordfish Swim Team. Level 1 is geared toward children who are reluctant to put their faces in the water.They will learn how to float on their front and back and how to draft on their front and back in the torpedo and streamline positions. Safety skills.

The Mighty Mite program is a preparatory program for future participation on the City Swordfish Swim Team. Must have completed Mighty Mites 1 or demonstrate Mighty Mite 1 exit skills. Emphasis on developing strokes and swimming 5 to 10 yards on front and back, with breathing. Safety Skills.

The Mighty Mite program is a preparatory program for future participation on the City Swordfish Swim Team. Must have completed Mighty Mites 2 or demonstrate Mighty Mite 2 exit skills. Emphasis on developing strokes and passing the swim test for the City Swordfish Swim Team. Must complete one pool-length on front with breathing and one pool-length on back. Safety skills.
